The USB port is 21 years old this year. And unbelievably it’s still on mainstream computers.
A new version: USB-C, is edging out the old model as laptops are quickly becoming tablets.
21 years… Windows 95 was the first operating system designed for it. Apple’s first iMac helped make it a household feature.
The first USB had a data speed 1.5 Megabits per-second. Today USB 3.1 is over 5 Gigabits per-second.
So give your USB a hug- for this may be the last birthday it ever has…
