If the news that next season’s GoT will be just 7 episodes got you down- then good news:

HBO is planning a GoT prequel.  

Now anything is possible. So obviously take nothing for granted.  And author George R R Martin will most likely not be writing the novels for it- since he can barely finish the one he’s on.  

But fear not.  HBO has been veering from the books more and more in the last few seasons. 

I expect any prequel will be the backstory of current characters.  Leading up to Robert’s Rebellion which set the stage for the series. 

The questions I have is will new characters be the focus point?  Or just the younger versions of Cersei, Ned and the Targaryen clan?
